New Take-aways from College Coaches at the NFCA Convention

In New Orleans in December I learned from the best college and pitching coaches in the world. I had the pleasure to hear a great talk by Cindy Bristow, the country's leader in pitching instruction and owner of softballexcellence.com. I get many of my fun toys, drills, and games from her website and talks.

One take-away I got from her presentation explained the importance of the grip. Did you ever notice that when you throw a curve ball it slides out of your hand and goes straight? I know, it happens all the time!  You need to slide your thumb up on the ball and put extra pressure on your fingertips and thumb equally. Voila!

Also focus on the love of the work. If your mom or dad talks to the coach for you, carries your bag for you, and practices with you every single session then what are YOU doing?  In this scenario your game really isn't yours, is it? Do it yourself and you will love softball to it's fullest.
