How To Solve Issues With Your Game Performance [Document]
/Sometimes I'll ask players how they performed, and their response often boils down to a simple "good" or "bad." They'll mention striking out some players, but their assessment is typically based on a feeling rather than concrete data. For instance, some may feel they performed poorly simply because they walked a couple of batters, not realizing that would be a huge improvement over the last few games when they walked way more. They hadn't even documented their previous stats, let alone made goals around their command.
To accurately evaluate your performance in a game, it's essential to use a structured approach. You should fill out an evaluation form before and after each game. Facing the truth might sting initially, but it's the only way to identify areas for improvement. If you choose to live in a fantasy world where success is presumed rather than factual, your actual achievement will forever remain a fantasy as well.
HERE is a game evaluation sheet I give all my students at pitching school, and here is a 3 minute video describing the best way to fill it out. Let me know in the comments your feedback on this form!
